Sep 6 09 In Byron Bay Today

Ok so like the rest of Australia it was Fathers Day . There were family gatherings and glowing Dad’s all over the bay. It’s always nice to see the little ones looking up to their Dad’s with that glimmer of pride, shining in their eyes. It’s funny we love him when we’re young. Contest his authority as young adults. Then eventually grow old enough to appreciate his efforts, respect his strengths and forgive him his weaknesses, hopefully before he passes on. For me its weird watching Fathers Day, my father passed away two years back and it holds a strange sense of Pathos for me both joyful & painful memories today. I still miss the old bloke very much. What we did see today were many dads, a few mums and heaps of kids getting waves. The swell is holding steady at about a metre plus from the east, it’s a bit bumpy but it’s got some punch and there were waves to be had. The wind was light from the south east and most folks we anxious to get a few slides in before the next howling spring northerly arrives in Byron bay. So town was quite crowded but it was a crowd with a very good energy, and I, like so many others, was grateful for just being .
Congratulations to Allan Murray of NSW Australia. Allan claimed his freebee and is now getting ready to go Whale Watching with Byron Bay Eco Charters. The bloke was stoked, and plans to take his wife along for her birthday. So don’t forget to check the photos and comments carefully each day, to see if we’ve drawn your name to win a freebee .
To all those wonderful people who chose to pose, thank you, for being here with us .
