By mid morn it was glorious, . The westerly trailed off, the clouds parted and the sun came out to play. So there we were, staring at clean almost empty surf in Byron bay today. You know, we probably should have set up, and taken some shots. But we just couldn’t help ourselves, empty waves on a sunny day in the middle of school holidays. Now that’s just too rare anywhere to pass up, we had to surf it. So surf it we did, and there was much rejoicing. Then we shot the late session instead. Now don’t get me wrong it was a stunning afternoon, but the late session today really didn’t do justice to just how much fun it was earlier on. So why am I telling you this, am I gloating? No, not at all, just trying to make a point. So many times we hear people complain about how crowded the surf is these days. I myself have been guilty of such statements from time to time. Yet these statements have little to do with reality. It’s nearly always possible to get uncrowded waves in Byron bay. Granted we don’t always get them where we want them. We may need to actually look somewhere else and settle for second best. But if you’re willing to make an effort, then empty waves are on offer. And then of course there are those wonderful moments when you just pull up at the break you want to surf, only to find it breaking nicely with hardly anyone out. When those times come don’t hesitate. Get out and enjoy it while you can. We certainly did, .
To all those wonderful people who chose to pose, we’d just like to say. Thank you for being here with us .
