Chunky Bits, . So we finally saw a few chunky little waves of consequence, in Byron Bay today, not only fun but real pretty too. There’s just something fabulous about newly generated summer north swells. The lines aren’t as well defined as later in the season and sure it tends to be a tad lumpy. But there’s a magic in the way the thick little peaks tend to bunch up together. Not only does this produce some fun but challenging waves, which is great for thinning out the crowd a might. But it also whips up some dark green nutrient rich water producing potent tints and hues as the light ricochets off the huddled peaks. At times, larger swells catch up with the smaller peaks and create nasty little mutant double sucks, making it spooky for the uninitiated and well funky for the experienced. Or to put it simply it’s just damned good fun to surf and downright beautiful to watch. Now speaking of watching, don’t forget Friday the 18th at the Byron Bay Community Centre 7.30pm. For the premier of ‘Little Black Wheels’ it’s not something you’ll want to miss. There’s plenty of the local crew appearing in the flick, so go check it out, .
