Welcome to In Byron Bay Today’s weekend windup. And what a week it’s been for those in the know. Ok yeah I know the winds been blowing a gale until Thursday and it absolutely bucketed with rain. But the waves! My God if you got off the live streaming video and actually went to hunt some waves, well you would have scored. Because those of us that bothered to look certainly were rewarded for our efforts. Listen up folks; it’s come to my attention that there’ll be a home grown movie showing at the Great Northern this coming Wednesday at 7.00pm. It’s about the local Byron surf scene, I suspect shortboarders only (but they’ll grow out that later, ha ha, just ragging ya boys). I happened to notice its got Beau Walker in it. Now I’ve known Beau since he was a little bloke just getting it worked out in the water; I’ve watched him and his phenomenal surfing talent grow over the years. He’s a decent and respectful bloke, living proof that you don’t need to be a bigoted jerk off to be a surfer of note. I suspect that if they have people like Beau in there, then it’s probably worth supporting. Anyway it’s good to see the young guys doing something creative.
