Sunshine, good God it feels good. Yes folks the sun was shining nearly all day . Add to that a nice offshore breeze, the remnants of an easterly swell, and a town that’s rapidly filling up with Easter Bunnies. Well you’d have to say, it was rather joyous in the bay today. Now I’ve got to give you all a bit of a heads up if you’re coming to town for Easter. We’ve got some new banks, yeah, yeah big deal I hear you say. Just listen up a moment. These are not the gentle sweet lovable cutesy type of sandbanks that most surfing visitors to Byron expect. They will be in a few more weeks perhaps, but right now it’s tricky. Those of us that live here have seen this many times before. But to the unsuspecting tourist, well let’s just say the unwary are paying. What’s going on is this; the banks are very shallow, but really deep off the edge. There’s a strong sweep running into the bay, the same direction as the wave. Plus a very tricky double sucking step on the takeoff. The sweep pulls you out of position and before you know it, your takeoff is way too late. I counted four cleanly snapped in half boards just today, and it wasn’t big. So by all means come for Easter, come along and play. But leave that tricky section to those in the know, .
To all those to all those wonderful people who struck a pose for us today, we’d just like to say. Thank you for being, .
